The strategic sector cooperation with Vietnam

The Strategic sector cooperation (SSC) entails government to government cooperation, in which the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration functions as the Danish partner authority in different SSC projects in e.g., Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Since 2017, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has led a strategic sector cooperation project (SSC) with the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The purpose of the project is to improve food safety through capacity building, feed production, and control of the use of veterinary drugs. The improvement is based on the Danish risk-based control approach and the distribution of responsibility between the authorities and the companies.

The project has thus far primarily focused on:

  • Feed: During the SSC period, rules for the production of feed have been developed.
  • Antibiotic resistance (AMR): During the SSC period, rules regarding the prescription of veterinary medicinal products have been developed.

In the spring of 2024, the final three-year phase is projected to kick off and will increase focus on the green transition in Vietnam, and among other things, focus on:

  • Food loss and waste.
  • Development and implementation of legislation for the use of insects as feed.
