Control of Animal Transports

There are different controls of animal welfare during transport

The DVFA check fitness for transport of animals when they are transported out of Denmark. The check is made at the assembly centers or at the holding. Fitness for transport is also checked when animals arrive at abattoirs in Denmark.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) make risk-based checks, where the animals, the documentation and the vehicle is checked.

DVFA can also use a priority action or campaigns, when they need to examine a specific topic in detail.

The Police check animal welfare during transport at road side checks, where they can be assisted by an official veterinary.
